The Design and Technology department organised an event to celebrate railway and engineering week, where professionals from the engineering industry were invited to the school to lead a workshop that evoked the students collaboration, curiosity and resilience skills.
It was a wonderful event where selected Year 9 students were able to explore structures with modelling materials they have experience in working with i.e. straws and paper to create the longest spanning bridge and the highest bridge. As well as working withe materials they have experienced in with cooking only, the students were given the opportunity to explore working with a mixture of flour and water bound together, to create the largest and strongest arch. The students had a great fun and enthusiasm when carrying out these activities, furthermore they demonstrated a strong interest in the engineering industry as a result.
