Post 16 Results - Press Release 2018

Students and staff at Plumstead Manor are celebrating another set of excellent Sixth Form results. With outstanding achievements for students across the ability range we are very proud of what all our young people have accomplished.

Post 16 results continue to improve at Plumstead Manor with 65% of entries achieving the top grades A* to B, and BTEC/Vocational courses achieving a 100% pass rate.

131 Year 13 students took examinations this Summer at Plumstead Manor.  There were over 240 entries from a wide range of A’ level qualifications alongside over 130 entries for BTEC and other vocational qualifications.

Many students also achieved the highest grades across the full range of subjects. 15% of results were at A*A, and 65% at A* to B, with a 96% pass rate. All of these results are from across the range subjects we offer including the arts, humanities, and STEM based subjects (maths and science). We continue to grow our curriculum offer to meet the needs and interests of our community, and are delighted to be offering Economics and Politics at A level from this September.

There were some astonishing individual performances including:

  • - Fahmida Babul – AAA
  • - Damini Kerai – Distinction* (BTEC), BB (A level)
  • - Lauryn Brown – AAB
  • - Junling Chen – A*A*B
  • - Dhvni Patel – Distinction (BTEC), AB (A level)
  • - May El-Mantawy – BBB

These represent excellent results for a non-selective mixed Sixth Form. Over 100 students are taking up places at universities or higher education institutions, with the vast majority going on to their first or second choice. They are testament to the hard work of staff and students alike. We are proud of our inclusive approach with a deep commitment to excellence for every student.

Head Teacher Douglas Greig commented:

We are very proud of the excellent results that students at Plumstead Manor Sixth Form have achieved this year in both academic and vocational courses. They are a further sign of the rapid improvements we’ve made to the quality of education in our Sixth Form which was recently judged good by Ofsted. We are delighted that so many of our young people have got just what they need to progress onto their chosen pathway in Higher Education or the world of work. I would like to pay tribute to the students and staff whose hard work and dedication have produced these fabulous results which are proof that our vibrant and thriving Sixth Form is an excellent place for young people of all abilities and backgrounds to flourish and succeed.
