Moving on to Sixth Form

The move from Year 11 to Year 12 is a significant point in every young person's life as it marks the point at which you begin to steer your own path.  Many students notice the difference between GCSE (Level 2) and A Level or BTEC (Level 3) for many reasons: the focus becomes much tighter on your subject specialisms; the level of independence increases; and the interaction with critical reading and thinking becomes even more important.  At Plumstead Manor, we provide as much support as possible to make sure that every Year 11 student makes the right choice and moves on to the best pathway for them.  Every Year 11 has been offered an interview with a member of the Sixth Form team since September and some have even had several.  While students might not know exactly what they want to do, the best advice we can offer is that students choose subjects that they find interesting and exciting, so that they are motivated to be inquisitive and resilient throughout the demands of their studies.  It's also important for students to consider what future pathway they might wish to pursue, as some university courses and apprenticeships require specific subjects to be studied before applying.

We encourage Year 11 students to attend taster days to experience studying at Sixth form.

Taster Days at Plumstead Manor are on 3-4 July 2017.  We invite students to register their interest via the Sixth Form website.

Students requiring further advice or support should contact the Sixth Form Team via email sixthform.info@plumsteadmanor.com or in person.
