First Give encourages young people the help address a social issue of their choosing by championing a local charity. Through a fully-resourced programme that's flexible to the needs of each individual school, students develop their social conscience alongside vital life skills. First Give is creating a generation of young people ready to give their time and talent to improve their community.
Congratulations to our year 9 Students who have won £1500 in total for local charities. First Give Finals took place in KW HALL last Wednesday. All our year 9 students have been tackling social issues in their Personal Development lessons by supporting local charities as part of a project provided by educational charity First Give. Our students have had the chance to win a total of £1,500.
The project has seen students in Year 9 researching charities in the local area, visiting these charities to learn about the work they do and producing presentations about them. The best teams from each class progressed to the School Final to compete for first, second and third prizes of £1,000, £250 and £250 for their charities.
Last week the seven week program culminated as the top teams in the year group competed to see who demonstrated the most dedication to their charity and originality in their presentation.
The winners were 9CU students; Love Inegbenebor, Alise Elberga, Oyinkansola Oyewole and Arafo Abdi who won £1000 for the local charity Emmaus who assists homeless people in our area.
9 AR and students; Bilan Yusuf, Amal Warsame, Jossy Odoemenam and Sadia Jabbar secured £250 for their chosen charity Age UK.
And 9RI students; Ameerah Ahmed, Scarlett Callaghan, Molly Gregory, Christie Mande and Ayomide Osindero also won £250 for their chosen charity Evelina London’s Children Hospital.
